This includes all subject area teachers, vocational teachers, school librarians, school counselors, curriculum resource teachers, teacher specialists, speech-language pathologists, and lead teachers who are planning to continue in an active teaching status. Important Letter to Parents

Dear Parent /Guardian:

As we prepare to transition from a hybrid schedule to four days of in -person learning, health and safety remain our top priorities. Schools maintain preventive practices to limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus, but in group settings some may still be exposed and become ill. It is important that steps be taken to protect all LCSD students and staff and provide students with a safe, healthy learning environment.

Plexiglass shields will be used to limit contact between students when students must be seated closer than 6 feet. Current DHEC guidance allows students to be seated at least 3 feet apart, if the appropriate plexiglass is utilized and students are wearing cloth face coverings that cover the nose and mouth. However, due to limited space in your child’s classroom, we are notifying you that it will be difficult to ensure that students are distanced by at least 3 feet when seated and that the plexiglass will provide appropriate separation during school activities

Please continue to monitor your child daily for symptoms of COVID-19. Schools will maintain preventive practices, strict cleaning protocols and screen all staff and students daily to ensure that sick individuals do not enter classrooms, in an effort to slow the spread of the virus.

LCSD COVID restrictions for traveling outside of the United States

Quarantine is required for an individual who has traveled outside the United States, with the following two exceptions:

☑ Individuals who are fully vaccinated and do not have symptoms do NOT need to quarantine after travel outside the United States.

☑ People who have tested positive (PCR or antigen test administered by a medical professional) for COVID-19 within the past 90 days and recovered and do not have symptoms do NOT need to quarantine.

Upon returning to the United States, individuals who travel outside the United States will be excluded from school following the same guidelines as if being in close contact with an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19, and may follow the 14-day, 10-day, or 7-day guidance as listed above for close contacts.
